Meet the One World Blue team

[aboutus/joelPirchesky.jpg]

Joel Pirchesky was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His strive for excellence was seen throughout his early education in his continual academic performance and his leadership, as well through his devotion in Scouting and achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating from Taylor Allderdice High School with honors in 1990, he went on to the University of Pittsburgh and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Art in Anthropology and a minor in Psychology.

While at the University, he became a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. He also had his first major international exposure by participating in the Semester at Sea Program that travelled to ten countries around the world while studying on the ship, the S.S. Universe.

After graduation, Mr. Pirchesky first gained experience as a tariff publisher in the shipping industry working for DXI, Inc. Then exploring his love and compassion for people, he worked for several years with children with autism and adults with mental health disabilities in Greensboro, North Carolina and in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1997, Mr. Pirchesky chose to pursue his interest in his Judaic roots and went to Rabbinical School, first for a year in Monsey, New York and then a year in Israel, learning on Mount Zion, in Jerusalem and in the holy city of Sefad in the northern region of the Holy Land.

After rabbinical studies, Mr. Pirchesky furthered his education and became a Certified Respiratory Therapist. He worked at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and at The Children's Institute of Pittsburgh. His love for pediatrics has driven him to have significant care and concern for all of God's children. As such, he still maintains his respiratory therapist license, continuing on with his interest in the treatment and cure for children with autism as well as being a support for children and adults with special needs.

Mr. Pirchesky's greatest spirit is his entrepreneurial one. In 2007, he founded the Internet business, One World Blue. Since its conception, One World Blue’s strategic plan is to create a platform that enables all people and institutions to have the ability to raise money for themselves through the sale of the diversified products available in the website's offerings.

In 2008, the One World Blue Web Portal Program was created. The Web Portal enables any entrepreneurially-owned or nonprofit organization to have the ability to raise funds through the Affiliate Marketing Program. One World Blue has two missions: One is to be a dynamic e-business internet marketing firm driven by a desire to create strong financially leveragable solutions. One World Blue is also devoted to fostering world peace among all people by facilitating projects for the common good. In line with our second mission, One World Blue will create a dynamic online Forum for all people worldwide to communicate and share ideas, foster peace, celebrate diversity, and embrace our humanity.

[aboutus/BernardAsper.JPG]

Bernard Asper was born in Niagara Falls, New York, moving as an infant to Connecticut, and several years later to Indiana, PA where he spent his most formative first years. Thereafter he lived in Rochester, New York and then East Hartford Connecticut attending Rabbinical high school in Brooklyn, New York which he enjoyed immensely as he learned centuries old Jewish religious texts. In 1985 in what would have been his fourth year of high school he returned to the Greater Pittsburgh area living in Beaver County.

While starting out college going to the campus at CCBC, Community College of Beaver County, Pennsylvania, when CCBC gave online courses he continued his education online. Mr. Asper gained his computer skills in a unique way. His father was only financially able to repair his own computer that he used for his work. Mr. Asper used to help him in the repairs. His father had another computer and rather than wait for it to be fixed, Mr. Asper fixed it himself, having a resourceful nature. He taught himself what he needed to know and remembers everything he ever learned about computers, which by now includes software, hardware and troubleshooting. As such, Mr. Asper is now creative and knowledgeable with computers.

In late 2005, Mr. Asper moved with his parents to Pittsburgh. His parents passed away in 2007. While they were alive their care took much of his physical and emotional time, but after their passing, he wanted to further his educational and professional pursuits. This spring he received enough credits to earn his associates degree. He will be going to Duquesne University on an academic scholarship and wants to major in physics. He also wants to use his computer skills for One World Blue, having become friends with and been impressed with the skill, drive and optimism of its CEO Joel Pirchesky, and so wants to minor in information science. To help out One World Blue and advocate for Pluto (it's a planet as long as we call it one!) and astronomy altogether, Mr. Asper has his own website "Bernard's Star" and astronomy blog "Exodwarf" a term he has coined and is catching on.

[aboutus/terriWinaught.jpg]

Born Theresa Mary Cwiklinski on March 13, 1953, life began with immeasurable uncertainty for this two-pound premature newborn.

When Theresa-who would come to prefer to be called Terri-turned three months old and was discharged from Frankfort Hospital, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by doctors who didn't expect her to survive, those physicians turned this frail baby over to her family with the words: "I wouldn't expect anything from this child but a life of disability and hardship: In fact, she's likely to be blind, crippled, and retarded."

Though a diagnosis of irreversible blindness was devastating for Terri's loving mother, Rose, Terri grew to be neither crippled nor retarded. In fact, she graduated third in her high school class in June, 1972 from the Overbrook School for the Blind and went on to graduate first with a Bachelor's degree in secondary education from Duquesne University and a Masters degree in education with an emphasis in counseling from that same university. (Terri also attended Chatham College (now Chatham University), after moving from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, PA in 1972.)

Terri's multifaceted accomplishments include: winning the Jefferson Award for Community Service, serving on the Board of Western PA BOLD for seventeen years, serving as Fundraising Chair for nine of those years, and being the first blind person to graduate from the city of Pittsburgh's Citizen's Police Academy.

"I'm really excited about this business!" Terri exclaimed to One World Blue CEO Joel Pirchesky. "I love it," Terri continued "because I love fundraising so much that I could just fundraise my little hands off." Some additional fundraising capacities in which Terri has served are: conducting fundraising research for a friend during 2005 and 2006, reviewing fundraising proposals in 2008, and helping a major mental-health facility write a grant proposal for accessible computer software to benefit the blind- and vision-impaired. (The proposal just mentioned was recently accepted for complete funding by a major health-care foundation.)

In short, Terri Winaught, proud wife of fellow BOLD member Jim Winaught is a mother, stepmother, and grandmother who named her business--the proceeds from which will benefit Blind Outdoor Leisure Development (BOLD)--Buy for Good Now because nothing is more important to Terri than doing good for others and helping them "do good" for themselves. Terri will be "doing good" for One World Blue and the nonprofit community by serving as Fundraising Chair of One World Blue and offering guidance and support to interested agencies and organizations.
